Lauren is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an evidenced based trauma treatment. EMDR aims to lower distress from traumatic memories and/or life experiences. It can also help shift beliefs you may have about yourself or the world that are impacting your daily life. If you are struggling with PTSD symptoms such as nightmares, flashbacks, hypervigilance, avoiding reminders of an event, or anxiety and depression, you may be a good fit for EMDR.
Lauren offers EMDR both in person and virtually. Research has found that EMDR is equally as effective virtually as it is in person and you can decide what works best for you personally!
What to Expect:
EMDR involves bilateral stimulation, often through lateral eye movements, lead by the therapist. Lauren will guide you through the various phases of EMDR including learning more coping skills to regulate your emotions, determining which distressing memories you'd like to target, processing the memories to lower the distress from them, and strengthening positive beliefs about yourself. EMDR can be used for various past, present, and future experiences.
